Social Research
Society explained using our social research
In a constantly changing society it is important to gather information about, and opinions from, those that matter - people living and working in Britain today.
We provide specialist research across a wide range of issues, including housing, health, disability, local government services and quality of life. With over 20 years' social research experience we have worked closely with a variety of clients, such as:
- local authorities
- central government departments
- housing associations
- universities
- consultancies
- charities
Our independent, objective position produces reliable, valid research to provide:
- guidance for the formulation of social policy
- input to reviewing the strategic direction of an organisation
- information on services or products requiring change/improvement
We have spoken to a huge variety of people including new home buyers, people with a disability, elderly people in socially deprived areas, those taking up new forms of government finance, tenants and NHS patients.
A wide variety of quantitative methods are used, such as face-to-face, telephone or postal self-completion questionnaires. These are often combined with a qualitative element to define issues in more detail or "get below the surface" to elicit underlying reasons for people's opinions. Mystery shopping can also be a useful tool, particularly in assessing service quality.
